NFL analytics with ChatGPT
Connect ChatGPT to NFL MCP to research football with tool-returned statistics, not model memory. You need a ChatGPT account with custom MCP access and an NFL MCP account; the two subscriptions and permissions are separate.

Custom MCP apps and developer-mode controls vary by ChatGPT plan, rollout, and workspace policy. An administrator may need to enable access or publish a custom app for your workspace. Do not assume a public-directory listing is available; use the custom connection path when your account supports it.
Connect NFL MCP to ChatGPT
The labels in ChatGPT may say Apps, Connectors, or Plugins. Follow the current custom MCP flow for your account rather than choosing a similarly named third-party app.
- Create or sign in to your NFL MCP account.
- Open ChatGPT's app settings. If your account requires developer mode for custom MCP apps, enable it or ask your workspace administrator.
- Create a custom MCP connection named NFL MCP using https://mcp.nflmcp.com/mcp.
- Select OAuth and complete browser sign-in and consent with NFL MCP. Do not select No authentication: the hosted endpoint requires credentials.
- Select or enable the connected app in a conversation. Ask a completed-season NFL question and check that the response uses its tools.
Ask ChatGPT better NFL questions
Specify season, week, regular season or playoffs, player identity, and the question you want answered. For fantasy football, add PPR or other scoring rules, lineup slots, and the players you are comparing. Ask for the queried period, evidence, and missing data.
The Free NFL MCP plan provides core research tools; advanced fantasy workflows require Pro. A paid ChatGPT plan does not automatically grant an NFL MCP Pro entitlement.
Fix connection and tool problems
If custom app creation is missing, check ChatGPT's current plan and admin policy. If sign-in fails, reconnect through OAuth. If tools are missing after a server update, use your app or workspace's refresh/rescan control; new tools may require administrator approval.
Pasting the server URL into a normal chat is not a connection. ChatGPT needs an enabled MCP app before it can execute these tools. Tools cannot submit fantasy trades, change lineups, or place wagers.
